Database Administrator

Salary: £50,000

We’ve established ourselves as a leader in the ‘RegTech’ sector with our product ‘Ruleguard’ and we’re now looking for an accomplished database administrator to help scale-up our company. You’ll be joining a team of technical experts with a proven history of smart, innovative software.

The Role:

You will be responsible for managing, optimising, and securing our critical databases in both on-premises & Microsoft Azure cloud environments. You will play a key role in ensuring the performance, scalability, and availability of our databases so that our clients’ experience of the Ruleguard platform is delightful at all times.

We are looking for the following skills:
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience working with Azure SQL.
• Provision, configure, and manage Azure SQL (managed instances and databases).
• Implement and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions for Azure SQL databases.
• Knowledge of backup and recovery processes, including point-in-time recovery.
• Monitor and optimize database performance using Azure monitoring tools.
• Proficiency in T-SQL programming and stored procedures.
• Ability to create advanced reports using Power BI.
• Experience with data lakes and warehousing.
• Automation of routine database administration tasks using Azure Automation and/or PowerShell.
• Secure databases by implementing appropriate access controls, encryption, and auditing practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database related issues.
• Expertise in analysing and mitigating wait events, bottlenecks, and resource contention.
• Work collaboratively with developers, cloud DevOps, network security and other IT professionals.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Stay up to date with the latest Azure SQL features and functionalities.

Bonus points for experience with the following:
• Azure Data Factory ETL processing.
• SQL Server Analysis services (Cubes).
• Cosmos database.
• SaaS products. Important Note:
